India is facing the worst locust attack in the last three decades. This locust first attacked Rajasthan. Later they spread to Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Now it is feared that they may enter Delhi as well.

As the locusts fly during the day and rest at night, they will not be allowed to rest at night, the Delhi Agriculture Department said on Thursday. To protect their nurseries, the Delhi Forest Department is considering covering them with polythene.

“It is not possible to cover the trees,” said Ishwar Singh, a Delhi Forest Department official. We can at least cover the seedlings in the nursery. ‘ Officials say, ‘Even this summer, it would be better to cover the seedlings with polythene. As a result, we will do it only when we are sure that locusts are coming to Delhi. ”

Note that this insect, which looks like a grasshopper, can eat more food than its body weight. There are 40 million locusts in a square kilometer swarm of locusts, they feed 35,000 people a day. Experts have blamed climate change for the locust attack. Their claim is that their growth and food supply are directly dependent on soil moisture.
